Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, ammonia, or abrasive cleaners. Protecting the Surface Always use coasters, placemats, and trivets under hot dishes, cups, and serving ware. Avoid placing extremely hot items directly on the tabletop. Use felt pads under decorative objects to prevent scratches. Do not drag heavy objects across the surface.
